Jonas Faulkner
Jonas Faulkner is a mysterious young man who stumbles into the woods just outside the small town of Esk with a bullet wound to the chest. Once he is found by the townsfolk it is apparent that he is not from the area because of his strange clothes and the simple fact that Esk is small enough to where everyone knows everyone. Unfortunately the townspeople are unable to question him because of his unconscious state. The nurse, Anya, operates upon the man soon after he is found, and takes care of him while he is still unconscious. She finds a wedding band among his possessions.
It is apparent that Jonas was previously married to a beautiful blonde woman, but something terrible or devastating must have happened, because he often refers to her as if she is the past. Jonas does not want to go home; even after he is healed he does not leave Esk (which depresses Robyn greatly). Interestingly enough, in flash backs Jonas looks very happy, which leads us to wonder why he refers to them so gloomily now.
Based on Jonas' speech and Robyn and Petria's observations, Jonas is likely to be a part of the old gentry. He speaks with sophistication and politeness all the time and his clothes are expensive looking. Jonas, however, doesn't seem interested in sharing his back story any time soon. Whatever it is, he's running away from it.
Personality wise, while Jonas is polite and sophisticated, he doesn't take any crap from anybody. He's also rather direct and insistent, but in a charming way that lets him get away with it. Jonas is also offbeat, from the crazy hairstyle to his odd ways of wording things.
